Katie Kittermaster – “Friends” single
“I still think about you all the time and not in a friendly way. I thought I’d be fine to see you today but I still feel the same as I did when we first met and even when you left. Thought you were joking when you said ‘let’s stay friends.’ I thought I’d feel fine to see you in a whole different light. You sat right there but you’ve never felt further away. I wonder does your family hates me, even though you were the one to break me. Trust me, I’ve tried to pretend. You’ll just break my heart in the end. We can’t be friends.” – lyrics
‘Friends’ tells an unhappy tale about a young woman who still has strong feelings for her ex. Apparently, they were once in a budding relationship, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out as expected. Now, they are about to part ways, and she feels some type of way about them being friends.
‘Friends’ contains a post-relationship-based narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Maisie Peters, Emily Burns, Sody, and Holly Humberstone. The emotional tune possesses piano-laden instrumentation flavored with a warm contemporary pop aroma. Furthermore, “Friends” serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear from Katie Kittermaster in the near future.
“I still think about you all the time and not in a friendly way.”
“Breaking up is so hard but remaining friends sadly seems impossible. I don’t write happy songs, maybe, one day I should. ‘Friends’ was written around the classic and idealistic ‘let’s stay friends’ line used in many civil breakups. However in my experience anyway this is just a phrase only really used to soften the blow of being dumped. And being friends with an ex is nearly impossible if you still have feelings for them. Breakups suck.” – Katie Kittermaster explained
To date, Katie Kittermaster has opened for Jools Holland, Ronan Keating, Kasier Chiefs, Scouting for Girls, and Rick Astley. She has performed at several music festivals including Penn Fest, El Dorado, Deebsday, The Big Feastival, and CarFest. Also, she has toured twice with Boyzlife (Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy) in 2019/20. Plus, she has supported Lucy Spraggan on her winter tour in 2019, playing 37 sell-out gigs throughout the UK, Ireland, Germany, and The Netherlands.
“My coffee’s going cold, I don’t care. Too busy trying to drink in your stare.”
‘Friends’ emerged in the spotlight after Katie Kittermaster posted a teaser of the song on TikTok. Since then, the teaser has accumulated over 250K views, which prompted Katie to release it as a single.
