Pip Millett – “Running” (Live) | Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2022

Pip Millett performs her “Running” single LIVE via Vevo DSCVR “Artists To Watch 2022” series

Pip Millett is a rising singer-songwriter based in London, England. Not too long ago, she performed her “Running” single LIVE via Vevo DSCVR “Artists To Watch (ATW) 2022” series.

“‘Running’ is the eeriest of them, dredged in a sense of impending doom. The resolution never comes in ‘Running.’ When our DSCVR camera stops spinning and settles on Pip’s face for her performance of it, a spell is already cast. Over the next three minutes, the bass line moves more than she does. Pip lets that voice of hers do all the work – reminding us that while her story is triumphant, her strength comes from the emotions she’s felt on the long journey to get here.” – Vevo DSCVR stated

Vevo’s DSCVR ATW series showcases engaging, high-quality live performance video content from the class of 2022. One artist from this class is Pip Millett, who is already three EPs deep into her career. The young artist grew up listening to Bob Marley, Gil Scott-Heron, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, and Joni Mitchell. Those early influences echo throughout Pip’s music, which weaves Mitchell’s confessional lyricism and Gaye’s soul vocals together for a contemporary yet timeless sound.

“To be selected as a VEVO DSCVR artist for 2022 is dreamy! I know there are some great artists that are chosen to be a part of this every year so it’s dead exciting to be included. I’m really grateful to have been given the opportunity to play two of my favorite tracks from the ‘Motion Sick’ EP in the VEVO studios.” – Pip Millett stated

Magnificent stories result when triumph emerges from tragedy. Pip Millett’s life story, sadly, includes the heartbreaking loss of her father. As a kid, young Pip would help DJ her parents’ dinner parties, where ‘70s classics permeated the air. Marvin Gaye and Joni Mitchell stirred something in her soul more than any other artists. When Pip was 14, her dad passed away. It was then that she realized “life was too short” to do anything other than double down on her passion.

Pip Millett – “Make Me Cry” | A COLORS SHOW

“I’m very excited to have Pip Millett on our Artist to Watch List. Her soulful and warm vocals captivate you as a listener. While her raw and honest lyrics take you on a journey through her eyes. She’s an incredible talent and I’m very excited to see what 2022 brings!” – stated Jodeci Rampasard from Vevo

The path was challenging, and Pip Millett found herself juggling university duties with the success of her “Make Me Cry” single. A COLORS performance of the debut track notched up the buzz a few decibels. After school, the lifelong Manchester-area native relocated to London. This year, that immersion in the city’s vibrant music scene has yielded Pip’s “Motion Sick” EP. The five-track project weaves her crystalline voice around grainy samples of soul-deep cuts.
