ORKID (Matilda Melin) is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter based in Stockholm (“the capital of pop”), Sweden. Not too long ago, she released a charming pop tune, entitled, “CloudsNdrivebys”.

“In my headspace we used to feel so safe. A million ways, now it’s a different place. Too much of us must’ve had something. Just not enough, now I got nothing. When it’s too late, wish I knew how to say, ‘I know I don’t swim good with your eyes on me.’” – lyrics

‘CloudsNdrivebys’ tells an adorable tale of a young woman who thinks about a very special individual in her life.

Apparently, they are hundreds of miles away from each other. Therefore, she holds on to memories of them being together.

Later, she admits that this person is her lifeline.

“‘CloudsNdrivebys’ is almost like driving your car somewhere, but when you get to the location you don’t even know how you got there. The whole ride you’ve been thinking about someone and the memories. Even if you’re a hundred miles apart, you still float on the words and the moments through the chaotic world we live in like a burning city. That person is still your lifeline.” – ORKID

ORKID is a name you should remember and an artist you should have on your radar.

With each release, she continues to establish herself as an exciting artist to watch.

“Couple hundred miles away, floating on the things you say.”

ORKID grew up listening to Nat King Cole and Sam Cooke.

These contrasting influences manifest in her ability to be both on-trend and mature beyond her years.

At the age of 16, she used the Idol stage to transition from performing small-town gigs to playing on an international stage.
