“Look at the sun shining, why don’t you, just let the sunlight in? I know you’ve been hurting (so) just let the sunlight in. Just forget what they say, what do they know anyway? Today is a beautiful day. I know life has been painful, so much work and the games too. Today is a beautiful day.” – lyrics

“Beautiful Day” is the focus track from Keyon’s highly anticipated album, “Foreverland,” set to be released in January 2024 via Concord Jazz. Blending a unique hybrid of jazz and hip-hop/R&B, “Foreverland” is a special curation of 10 original tracks and includes special guests Common, Robert Glasper, PJ Morton, and more.

“Today is a beautiful day… ’cause I say.”

“It’s such a beautiful thing to create music that comes from the heart and soul. ‘Beautiful Day’ is a song that PJ Morton and I wrote together in New Orleans, after a heart-to-heart conversation about life. We’ve been making music together for years, and every collaboration is just as special as the last. PJ is truly one of my favorite songwriters and artists, and it was an absolute honor to create ‘Beautiful Day’ for my ‘Foreverland Album.’ The line in the song, ‘It’s a beautiful day because I say…’ is all about taking ownership and accountability for our lives. Life is what we make of it, no matter what anyone else thinks or sees. We all have our own unique perspectives, and it’s up to us to see the beauty in the world around us, even on the darkest of days.” – Keyon Harrold explained

Since his first album was released in 2009, Keyon Harrold has proved himself a first-call sideman, racking up a long list of touring and recording credits including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Nas, Rihanna, Eminem, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Maxwell, Robert Glasper, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Cirque Du Soleil, Keith Richards, Diana Ross, Black Pumas, Leon Bridges, Gregory Porter, and Mac Miller.

A few of Keyon Harrold’s highlights include being featured in a question on the show Jeopardy, appearing as a special guest with Jay-Z, and supplying all the trumpet playing in Don Cheadle’s Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead (2015).
