AJ Mitchell – “Girls”

“Keep thinking ’bout ’em. If they get in my way, got myself thinking about ’em all day. They’re all I could see. I don’t care if they out of my reach. Pray to myself, they’re my weakness, can’t leave ’em alone.” – lyrics

Vevo DSCVR is an annual series that highlights artists who are shaping the future of music. One of these artists is AJ Mitchell. His covers of Shawn Mendes’ and Jason Derulo’s music via social media got him some recognition. Since then, he’s been steadily rising towards the top of the commercial pop realm.

Not too long ago, he released a 6-track EP, entitled, “Hopeful”, via Epic. The 6-track project features his “Girls” and “Hate That I Love You” singles. Check it out via Spotify.

“Hopeful”

Mitchell was quoted as saying that the title track is his favorite because its message of unfettered optimism is what drove him to get where he is. Check out Mitchell’s live video performance of his “Hate That I Love You” single and you will further understand why Vevo included him in their ‘Artists To Watch’ program.

AJ Mitchell – “Hate That I Love You”

“You get me so-up, then you push me down like I’m your own personal elevator. You pull me all in, then you pull me out. Actin’ all nice just to hide your bad behavior. I love to hate you, but I hate that I love you.” – lyrics

Not too long ago, he released a music video for his “Girls” single. So far, the video has amassed more than 1.3M views on YouTube. Also, the charming singer is getting big real quick, so much so that he already has 1.5M followers on Instagram.
