Zoë Ferguson – “I’m Ok” music video
In 2020, Zoë Ferguson was finishing high school, and getting prepared to move to Los Angeles to get serious about writing songs. Mike Connor from Ashtray Management met with Zoë on the last day possible before the world shut down and took Zoë under his wing. This music video is their first collaboration and the start of 2021. The video was directed by Gus Black, who also directed videos for Lennon Stella, Joshua Bassett, and Sheryl Crow.
‘I’m OK’ was written by Zoë a month before COVID hit. The song is about anxiety, something many teenagers like Zoë are going through at this moment since dreams and aspirations are temporarily put on hold. Now the time has come to resume life, and Zoë is working on her EP and will be releasing a new single soon.
“I want people to hear my music and be able to relate to the words.”
“Spent some time on my own, disconnected from my phone. So tonight I’m staying home. Swear I’m alright when I’m alone. ‘Cause everybody’s worried about me and I wish I could even care. And I know that you ask ‘cause you love me, and all you really want is me there. And I could spend all my money without even going anywhere. I think at this point it’s funny that’s going out is too hard to bear.” – lyrics
‘I’m Ok’ tells a touching tale about a young woman who prefers to be alone. However, her loved ones and friends are concerned about her wellbeing and decision to be isolated. Later, she tries convincing them that she’s okay, but deep down they believe that she is not. Furthermore, “I’m Ok” contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Charlotte Lawrence and Olivia Rodrigo.
