Tai Marie releases a lovely remake of Taste of Honey’s “Sukiyaki” single

Tai Marie is a Dallas-based singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Not too long ago, she released a lovely remake of Taste of Honey’s ‘80s hit single, entitled, “Sukiyaki.”

Tai Marie – “Sukiyaki” (Taste of Honey cover)

“It’s all because of you I’m feelin’ sad and blue. You went away, now my life is just a rainy day. I love you so, how much you’ll never know. You’ve gone away and left me lonely. Untouchable memories seem to keep haunting me of love so true that once turned all my gray skies blue. But you’ve disappeared, now my eyes are filled with tears.” – lyrics

‘Sukiyaki’ tells an adorable tale about a young woman who wishes her former partner was there to wash away her tears. Apparently, ever since he took his love away from her – she doesn’t know what to do with herself anymore. Later, she admits, “The sun would shine, and once again you’d be mine, all mine. But in reality, you and I will never be.”

‘Sukiyaki’ contains an unhappy narrative and soothing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Taste of Honey, H.E.R., TLC, and Brandy. The charming tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and retro-soul elements. Furthermore, “Sukiyaki” was originally recorded in 1961 by the Japanese crooner, Kyu Sakamoto.

“Soft with love are my thoughts of you.”
