LOVA is a talented singer-songwriter from Sweden. Not too long ago, she turned heartbreak into art with her new heartbreaking pop ballad, entitled, “Black Converse”, which follows on the heels of her “Jealous Of My Friends” and “Own Worst Enemy” singles.

LOVA – “Black Converse” single

“Hey, I found your black converse, I guess in other words, I’m really missing you right now. But, you look good, you look really f**king good. And, I hate that you don’t need me like the way I still need you. Wish I didn’t but I do. So it’s hard to see you healing when I’m still breaking.” – lyrics

‘Black Converse’ tells a heartfelt tale of a young woman who is struggling to get over her ex-boyfriend. Apparently, he has moved on and found someone new while she is still holding on to what they had. Later, she calls him late one night to say that she found his black converse, and thought, maybe, he wants them back. But what she really wants is to find out if they can get back all of the things that they lost.

Furthermore, “Black Converse” gives listeners an intimate glimpse into LOVA’s life, where she fills another memorable page in her diary. Speaking from experience, the charismatic songstress sheds light on the hardest part of a relationship—breaking up and watching someone move on.

“I didn’t think our breakup would make us into strangers.”

“‘Black Converse’ is about a breakup that I went through a couple of years ago. At the time, I was heartbroken and at my worst. I decided that I didn’t want to write about the breakup mostly because I didn’t want my grieving process to be all about him. Instead, I focused on me and my feelings only. After a few years of writing, being single, and focusing on my mental health, I thought it was the right time to write a song about what I was feeling during the breakup. This specific song is about the stage in a breakup where your ex is moving on and finding someone new in front of your eyes. But you are still very much emotionally invested and can’t find a way to let go of that relationship. All you want to do is to call this person and act like everything is how it used to be. But you are no longer that person who makes him feel at his best or who he wants to spend all his time with, which was something that was really hard for me to come to terms with.” – LOVA

‘Black Converse’ contains a bittersweet narrative, mesmerizing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the heartbreaking tune possesses piano-driven instrumentation scented with a warm commercial pop aroma. Moreover, “Black Converse” serves as a perfect presentation to what listeners can expect to hear from LOVA in the near future as she continues her claim to fame.
