Gordo produces songs on Drake's “Honestly Nevermind” album

GORDO inspires Drake’s shift to dance music and contributes to nearly half of his new “Honestly Nevermind” album

Drake surprised the world with the release of “Honestly Nevermind,” debuting his new dance sound. The cutting-edge tech-house-inspired project comes as a result of multiple studio sessions with one of dance music’s newest and hottest producers, GORDO (Diamanté Anthony Blackmon’s freshly minted tech-house alias, previously known as Carnage).

During his tenure as Carnage, Diamanté built close relationships with the world’s top artists, from Mac Miller to Migos, Tyga, and Drake. However, he had never officially released music with his close friend, Drake. But it seems they’ve finally found their perfect musical match on Honestly Nevermind. GORDO produced nearly half of the project. His contributions include Currents, Calling My Name, Sticky (#1 debut on Apple Music’s Today’s Hits playlist), Massive, and Ties that Bind.

The pandemic provoked GORDO to self-reflect on his life, career, and sound. He started experimenting with a new underground dance sound, educating himself on this scene and inspiring others around him (Drake) with fresh new energy. This newfound sound quickly translated into GORDO’s productions eventually shining through on “Honestly Nevermind” after working with Drake on the album in Toronto. In addition to GORDO, the project features productions from fellow DJ/producer Black Coffee and Metro Boomin. Both Black Coffee and Metro Boomin are producers who have helped shape GORDO into the artist he is today.

GORDO built his career as a DJ/producer mainly producing trap, dubstep, and hip-hop. He has rocked the stages of Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, and Tomorrowland. His self-produced debut studio album, “Papi Gordo,” featured the standout—Bricks, I Like Tuh, and WDYW. The project eventually became the #1 Dance Album in the United States.

Also, he will be hosting his own ‘TARAKA’ residency in Mykonos and joining the Swedish House Mafia on their tour from September to November across the United States and Europe.

To date, GORDO has four releases under his belt, a major contribution to Drake’s Honestly Nevermind, a packed 2022 touring schedule, and much more to come. Furthermore, GORDO has positioned himself to be the top act of the summer with no end in sight.
