Priyaali Kanti talks freely about life and her greatest accomplishment

We conducted a lovely interview not too long ago with Priyaali Kanti, an actress, model, and dancer based in British Columbia, Canada. During our conversation, she talked freely about life and her greatest accomplishment.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Priyaali Kanti: I was born in Mumbai, also known as the “Hollywood” of India. I was raised in the capital city of Delhi. My family and I moved to the beautiful British Columbia in 2017 to change our lifestyle. I believe that entrepreneurial skills are essential to succeed in these roles, which is why I am pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business at the University of British Columbia. Also, I have taken film and theater electives and I am pursuing professional acting classes as a hobby.

I am currently an actor under Teresa May Agency. I have enrolled myself with Rosebud Modeling as a stepping stone to get exposure to the camera and to help me build my portfolio. Also, I am a passionate dancer and I have utilized my passion and my creativity to fundraise for the frontline warriors of COVID-19 by providing dance lessons.

What was life like in your birth city? What memories do you have?

PK: Mumbai, back in the day, known as “Bombay,” located in the province of Maharashtra is my birth city. I moved to Delhi in 2005 at a young age and I thus have most of my memories of growing up in Delhi itself. However, I can still recall the first few years of my life growing up in a film city.

The hot summer, the street food, and the packed local trains are my most vivid memories. I remember seeing movie stars on the roads, shopping malls, and restaurants so often that I would not get starstruck anymore. Also, I have watched numerous films being shot in my area with sets and a large crew. I think this is where the spark of acting and film was ignited in me.

What’s your motto or life advice that you live by?

PK: “Practice like you have never won and perform like you have never lost.”

Which actress inspires you?

PK: My favorite Indian actress, Priyanka Chopra, is my biggest acting inspiration. Her journey began in the year 2000 when she was crowned Miss World. I really admire the way she entertains the whole world. She is a self-made actress who grew up in a middle-class family. She is the epitome of hard work, and her attitude makes me believe in my own ability to be a successful actress like her.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?

PK: I am a dedicated student, a passionate performer, and an active community member. Within such a short time of moving from a diametrically opposite land, I have been able to do so much in my community. In 2017, I was crowned Miss Teen BC Interior, which gave me a platform to promote self-love and give more awareness about immigrants.

I made it to the Top 5 of the Miss Teen Canada Pageant. In 2019, I represented Canada in the Kasugai Festival in Japan as Miss Kelowna. The fact that I have been able to give back to such a community is what I am the proudest of.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now?

PK: Hopefully, I will be seen at the Vancouver Film Festival attending my film premiere with prestigious actors, ha-ha!

What’s your favorite kind of movie?

PK: My favorite kind of movies are science fiction movies like Back to the Future, Bird Box (starring Sandra Bullock), and Passengers (2016).

Tell us something about you that no one knows.

PK: I am very overprotective about my dog. I am offended when people get scared of him or don’t want to pick him up.

Thanks for a great interview! Where can we follow you?
