MINOE releases a superb ’70s-inspired music video for her “Cut Me Loose” single

MINOE (@itsminoe) is a rising Montreal-based singer-songwriter from Nova Scotia, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a superb ’70s-inspired music video for her infectious disco-dance single, titled, “Cut Me Loose,” an injection of empowering disco euphoria.

Directed by Andres Estrada and edited by Walid Jabri, the stunning disco-inspired visual sees MINOE switch between two versions of herself. Glamorous, done-up MINOE dances with her friends and embodies confidence, and the other is a tired, overwhelmed version of MINOE who appears to be holding back tears. The latter represents MINOE’s inner saboteur.

Throughout the hypnotic dance track, we hear MINOE speaking to herself – begging to be “cut loose” from her own unrealistic expectations. As a lover of escapism and using dance as a coping mechanism, MINOE’s goal is to invite listeners to her party, where crying at the club is not only allowed but encouraged and everybody is welcome on the dancefloor.

‘Cut Me Loose’ is written for anyone who has ever been their own bully. Confessional lyricism teamed with thumping bass and explosive energy makes this fresh cut a bite-back moment. Written by MINOE herself, “Cut me loose” has an incredible team of creatives behind it. Producer Kevin Figs is a platinum, Juno-nominated producer who has previously collaborated with big names such as Zara Larsson, Jeremih, Danileigh, Tove Lo, and more. The track was mixed and mastered by Ghislain “Gee” Brind’Amour, a Juno award-winning engineer who’s known for a killer ear and an impressive track record.

MINOE – “Cherry” music video

‘Cut Me Loose’ follows on the heels of MINOE’s stellar single, “Cherry.” Arriving last month, the song saw the rising Canadian pass the mic to her inner saboteur. Sultry, raw, and catchy as hell, “Cherry” has scooped up much support from notable media outlets. Also, “Cherry” bagged a great sweep across DSPs with additions from playlists such as Fresh Finds, It’s a Bop, and many more.

“If you love me cut me loose.”

MINOE has been making a name for herself with her soulful songwriting and alternative-pop sound. Fusing elements of disco and pop with more dark and alternative moments, MINOE’s sound is the perfect vessel for her honest, empowering, and cathartic songwriting.

Growing up in a troubled home, MINOE took to songwriting at a very young age to understand, process, and cope with her trauma. Her goal is to provide a safe space for her listeners to heal, dance, and find common ground.

“There’s no use in trusting you.”

Since launching in 2019, MINOE has put out an increasingly diverse body of work, evolving and scooping more recognition with each release. Her work has racked up over 300,000 streams and over 3 million likes on TikTok.

With live performance playing a big part in who MINOE is, she’s already performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, opened for Tom Grannan, and Dadi Freyr, and sold out her first headline show in Toronto. Releasing thanks to the help of the Factor JSR grant, MINOE is a force to be reckoned with. Giving nods to female greats such as Lana Del Rey, Kimbra, and Banks, MINOE is here with her own spin, dripping in empowerment. With lots more music on the way this year, MINOE is someone to keep your eyes on.
