“You tend to choose a temporary high over what you know that I could bring to you. And if you’d ask me how I’m feeling, I play just as dumb as you, 1+1 don’t make two. ‘Cause I’ve been manipulated, oh, I’ve been hated, taken for granted, and I can’t stand it. I no longer wanna deal with love ‘cause it’s an illusion, straight delusion.” – lyrics

‘Flirting With My Feelings’ tells an honest tale about a young woman who doesn’t have a problem with being coldhearted as a defensive mechanism. She admits to having feelings for her new companion, who has deeply fallen in love with her. But how could he not? Like Megan Thee Stallion, she’s on her hot girl sh*t. So, it’s a little too late for them. Maybe, if they had met a couple of months ago, then maybe, they could have had a chance of being together.

‘Flirting With My Feelings’ contains a relatable narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with anyone who found their significant other on the dancefloor. The likable tune possesses happy drums, funky guitars, and groovy bass-laden instrumentation flavored with disco-R&B, pop, and electro-dance elements. Furthermore, “Flirting With My Feelings” serves as a wonderful taste of what listeners can expect to hear from Marissa Hernandez in the near future as she continues to release new music.

“What are you concealing when you say you love me?”

“‘Flirting With My Feelings’ is a disco throwback vibe that is based on a true story from a wild bachelorette party night for my best friend. I was on my healing journey at the time and had completely sought off all men, as we women do from time to time…only to find myself smitten over a guy I met on the dance floor. I woke up appalled at my giddiness and stood firm with the first thing that came out my mouth, ‘Oh no, I am not gonna let him go flirting with my feelings!’ I wrote the song in about five minutes thereafter and am grateful to have created such a fun women-empowering bop.” – Marissa Hernandez explained

Marissa Hernandez draws influences and sounds from the early ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, mixed with some of her favorite inspiring artists like Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, The Supremes, Donna Summer, Selena, Britney Spears, Adele, Sam Smith, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, Jesse McCartney, Olly Murs, and Jess Glynne to name a few.

“You found me on the dance floor, got lost can’t find my girls. Walked straight into my world, I can barely hear you. Music drowned you out, but you looked me up and down as if no one else was around. And said, ‘Do you wanna dance?’ Then he took my hand.” – lyrics
