Lusaint releases a heartfelt pop single, entitled, “Dark Horse”

Lusaint is a singer-songwriter based in Manchester, England. Not too long ago, she released a heartfelt pop single, titled, “Dark Horse,” via Heavenly Fire. The song is another leap forward for Lusaint since her unique rise to stardom in 2019 when her cover of “More Than Friends” (En Vogue ‘Don’t Let Go’) received a TV sync and was subsequently crowned the most Shazam’d song in one day in the UK with over 45,000 Shazams.

“I wrote ‘Dark Horse’ at a very vulnerable time in my life. It holds so much emotion lyrically and is about a past relationship that fell apart unexpectedly.” – Lusaint explained

‘Dark Horse’ spotlights Lusaint’s distinctive voice, which has captured hearts since her 2019 breakthrough with its melodic blend of jazz and blues influences. Opening with a soft piano refrain accompanying Lusaint’s striking vocals, the chorus arrives with a punch. “I don’t mind hanging on a dark horse,” Lusaint laments over a backdrop of soaring strings, as dubby bass and crisp percussion enter the mix to ease the track into a commanding groove.

‘Dark Horse’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and groovy instrumentation flavored with a contemporary pop vibration. Furthermore, “Dark Horse” is the powerful lead single from Lusaint’s debut EP, entitled, “self sabotage,” slated for release in October 2023.

Lusaint grew up in the town of Stretford, Greater Manchester, on a musical diet of Motown, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nina Simone. But Lusaint never thought a career in music was possible. Fast forward to 2023 and she has dispelled her own theory; with her music clocking tens of millions of global streams, the future looks bright for this exciting new voice.

Lusaint’s acoustic covers of Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” and “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak have drawn much attention with the latter hitting over three million YouTube views. More recently, Lusaint made a scene-stealing appearance on Franky Wah’s “Find Out Who We Are,” which has already garnered over 250k streams on Spotify alone.
