Joël is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter/dancer from Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, he released a harmonious urban soul tune, entitled, “Vent”.

“I really just wanted to get sh*t off my chest. At the time, I was living with a shorty, post-breakup. Toxic, but I still had love for her. So many emotions that were undigested, I kinda just wanted to clear the bitterness out of the air. Literally, I cut vocals while she and her homegirl were out in the living room. It was kinda like therapy in a way. I really didn’t care if she heard it or not. Although when that chorus hit I’m sure she did. it’s never cool closing a book you’ve spent time reading especially if you got to know the characters really well. We were coolin for a minute, got crazy, then sh*t hit the fan. Poured gas on it too I would be chopped if I didn’t write a song called ‘Vent’.” – Joël
‘Vent’ contains a relatable storyline, sweet soul vocals, and charismatic instrumentation flavored with hip-hop and urban soul elements.

Joël’s sound is a mixture of alternative and R&B music, which he coins ‘grunge gospel’. “Vent” is the first release from his upcoming project.
His music is projected through the lens of a young black man trapped in the suburbs with no obvious way out.
