Jehkai releases a music video for his “This Ain’t The Life” single

“When you listen to me, I hope you relate and want to hear the next chapter. I want you to think. I want you to cry. Also, I want you to feel my pain and maybe, because of it, feel better.” – Jehkai explained

‘This Aint The Life’ finds Jehkai detailing the hardships of growing up in poverty, being homeless, and losing loved ones to gang violence. The emotive trap cut possesses meditative bars, new age street raps, and melodic instrumentation flavored with a contemporary rap vibration. Furthermore, “This Ain’t The Life” follows hot on the heels of Jehkai’s Atlantic Records debut, entitled, “Frostbite,” featuring Bankroll Freddie. The video features the two artists flexing their jewelry, throwing money, and driving expensive sports cars.

Jehkai’s music feels like a tour through his hometown of Compton, CA. The 19-year-old rapper was born the sixth of eight children and immediately understood hardship. He lived in the projects with his grandmother, and eventually in a van. Nevertheless, he immersed himself in music, listening to everyone from Michael Jackson to Tupac to Drake. Recently, Jehkai has been steadily building momentum on SoundCloud with his weekly Free the Pain Preacher Fridays drops, garnering more than 1.2 million streams.
