Georgia & The Vintage Youth – “Heavy Eyes” single
“I wrote ‘Heavy Eyes’ about an unhealthy infatuation I once had with an older man. I was young and naïve. He was ten years older. And I was obsessed with this unreadable and intense look he would always have in his eye. And that’s what sparked the song. It’s about submissiveness, delusion, and being in love with the idea of love. Wearing those rose-tinted glasses. When in reality you’re involved in something that is very toxic. And fueled by alcohol and impulsive decisions.” – Georgia stated
‘Heavy Eyes’ contains a nostalgic narrative, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses pleasant instrumentation flavored with retro-pop and alternative elements. Furthermore, “Heavy Eyes” serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear on Georgia and the Vintage Youth’s upcoming EP, entitled, “Overthinker”.
Georgia & The Vintage Youth
“‘Heavy Eyes’ is a song that very much wrote itself. I don’t actually remember trying to piece it together or the writing process, it just completely flowed onto paper. Although, I was very set on it having a ‘50s/‘60s sweetheart vibe to it. Because, I find that that kind of music is very lovey-dovey and vulnerable. Which is exactly how I felt at the time. It’s a romantic tune with very unromantic lyrics.” – Georgia
Georgia is an Essex girl with big blonde hair and a big voice to match. Her retro-pop style of music is both vintage and fresh. She takes inspiration from the vocal rawness of Elvis Presley and Janis Joplin, the flamboyancy of Marc Bolan, and the hair of a young Cyndi Lauper. Georgia blends all kinds of old school genres with soulful melodies and poetically upfront lyrics.
In 2019, Georgia & The Vintage Youth performed as a support band to thousands across a 50 date UK tour culminating at the Royal Albert Hall. Major festival appearances include the Isle Of Wight Festival, Cornbury Festival, and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Now under the wing of new management, TALENTBANQ, Georgia has embarked on the next chapter of her journey.
