“You’ve been making these excuses, tired of covering the bruises. I couldn’t stop if I wanted to – the voices too loud – don’t speak the truth. I’ve been losing sight of what’s right. The path is blurry, needs a straight line. I wish that I’d seen how it affects me. We don’t always feel the things we wanna feel. Don’t go chasing someone else’s lucid dreams. Always feeling restless, wish that someone understood. Don’t go chasing someone.” – lyrics

‘Excuses’ finds Ella Lockert singing about making excuses for choices she made or did not make. The song is a simple reminder of how we sometimes fool ourselves with excuses we tell ourselves when we don’t succeed. We use them to keep doing what we do and not change our ways. Also, “Excuses” is about the frustration you feel once you realize that you have been making excuses, it’s a tad bit uncomfortable. Therefore, Ella admits, “I’ve been counting days, it’s useless. All these things I can’t accomplish, I’m doing my best holding on to. My mind’s working slower than it used to, I’ve been losing sight of what’s right.”

‘Excuses’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and sweet-sounding melodies that will resonate well with fans of Neiked, Tate McRae, and Astrid S. The likable tune possesses vibrant instrumentation flavored with contemporary and electro-pop elements. Furthermore, “Excuses” follows on the heels of Ella Lockert’s previously released single, entitled, “Blacklisted.”

“I don’t always feel the things I wanna feel.”

“I got hooked on music when I joined a songwriting competition at the age of 12 and got to perform my song inside a huge arena. When my followers tell me their stories of issues they struggle with, I love to make songs out of them. It becomes my outlet as well.” – Ella Lockert stated

You might’ve heard about Norway –  the salmon and the fjords. Perhaps, you’ve heard of artists like Aurora or Sigrid?
