Drew Now releases a delightful pop tune, entitled, “See Through”

Drew Now (Leah Mathies) grew up in isolated northern Ontario on a rocky farm along the shores of Lake Huron. A Canadian native, she spends most of her time in Nashville, Tennessee. Not too long ago, Drew released a delightful pop tune, entitled, “See Through.”

Drew Now – “See Through” single

“This is what it feels like to sleep beside the most successful person in the room. To love them and to know their secrets while power-hungry opportunists come out of nowhere to steal them away with fast cars and money-making ideas.” – Drew Now explained

‘See Through’ tells an intriguing tale about a young woman who shares a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, he is slowly becoming someone who she is starting not to recognize anymore. Apparently, he’s changing because he’s chasing money instead of focusing his time and energy on her needs and desires. Later, she reveals that all she wants her partner to do is come home and spend some time with her instead of hanging out with his friends all the time.

“If they get mad, just put the blame on me. I don’t care, just want you home with me.”

Drew Now was raised in a bubble. Much of her understanding of music came from songs at church and her sisters’ homemade angsty CDs lying on the floor of her mom’s car floor. She ached to fill the vast silence around her and voice what she saw were important but unpopular topics. From her mother, an addiction counselor, she learned firsthand how everyday people were suffering and the power of music in their lives.

Drew’s focus to write anthems of understanding heightened when loss and sorrow became personal in her own life. She unapologetically asks the hard questions, weaving religion, sex, and love into a patchwork quilt of intensity. Drew brings a compelling awareness to topics she is driven to shed light on so that maybe, just maybe, someone may hear her music and feel known.

“Chasing money, instead of chasing me. If you choose it, you’re not choosing me.”

“Everybody thinks that you’re see-through, but I’m the only one that can see through that. Tell them in the back they can relax ‘cause I’m-a take you back, make you relax. And everybody thinks that they need you but I’m the only one who won’t need that back. I know how you get, how you react, and you know that I’m worrying about that.” – lyrics

‘See Through’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocalization, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Julia Wolfe, Troye Sivan, and Chelsea Cutler. The likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with a contemporary pop vibration. Furthermore, “See Through” follows mildly on the heels of Drew’s “Jesus Weeps” single; and serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear from her shortly.
