“‘(Most) Humans Are *icks’ is a reminder to be selfish, not so that you stop adding value to your people’s lives, but to preserve the value of yourself. It’s a reminder to stop trying to please everyone because not everyone is going to like you and you’re not going to like them. But, at the end of the day, you’re stuck with yourself. So, do right by you, you’re the most important.” – Cole LC explained

‘(Most) Humans Are *icks’ is a catchy track about trying to stop pleasing everyone and preserve the value of yourself. The mellow tune possesses a relatable narrative and rhythmic drum-laden instrumentation flavored with a warm UK Garage vibration. Furthermore, “(Most) Humans Are *icks” is the first new taste of Cole LC’s new mixtape, set to be released soon. The collection of tracks pushes against genre boundaries and showcases a varied vocal talent.

Cole LC fuses R&B, rap, drill, and alt-pop in an eclectic mix of genre-hopping songs that reflect on his upbringing, friendships, and relationships from his home of Leeds. Like so many in his generation, Cole’s inspirations are drawn from multiple influences, and he honed his skills and built an audience by sharing original tunes and freestyle raps across social media and busking from an early age. He released his debut mixtape in 2021 and performed at Reading, Leeds, and Parklife festivals.

Cole’s influences and musical heroes are as eclectic as you might expect. He lists his biggest inspirations as Mike Skinner, Potter Payper, Mahalia, Lil Baby, and Ed Sheeran. “I want to be unpredictable, but consistent,” he says, and it’s clear he’s working hard to learn as many lessons from his heroes as possible. He draws as much as he can from those figures, expressing his admiration for Lil Baby and Sheeran’s work rate, Skinner’s presence on and off stage, and Mahalia’s humility, progression, and lack of compromise.
