“What You’ve Been Waiting For” tells a story from a woman’s point of view. The song finds her walking through a doorway and into a room where her significant other waits.
What transpires afterward illuminates the room. Time slows down significantly and she closes her eyes. Usually, when she dreams like this, the scenery is painted in black and white.
But on this particular night, there’s a colorful glow in the atmosphere, reminiscent of the morning sun rising, or perhaps, the evening sun setting.
