Sara Phillips is an LA-based pop singer-songwriter from Montreal, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a music video for her “Here’s to You” single.

Sara Phillips – “Here’s to You”

“I stumble by your house at night hoping you might come outside but you don’t, you don’t. So I get wasted like we used to. I’m wasted, here’s to you.” – lyrics

The Kemal Cilengir- and Matt Nieman-directed video finds Phillips at a bar getting wasted by herself. After taking several shots of whiskey and wine, she finally gets enough courage to say a few things to her ex-boyfriend.

But he’s not in the bar with her. Therefore, she uses a nearby payphone to call him. But it seems like he didn’t pick up his phone and she sings her heart out to his voice mail.

It’s clear as day that she’s still in love with him. But he’s moved on, something she needs to do. It’s hard for her to do so, but not impossible. However, every time she thinks about him, she drinks because it’s too painful knowing that she doesn’t have him in her arms anymore.

‘Here’s to You’ contains a bitter-but-not-sweet storyline, wonderful soul vocals, and a charismatic instrumentation oozing with a nostalgic pop appeal.
