Róisin Marie (the first name pronounced “ROW-sheen”) is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Rockland County, New York. Not too long ago, she released an appealing audiovisual for her “Like That” single, produced by RocNation signee, Anwar Sawyer.

“‘Like That’ started as just a piece of writing in my journal. I was stuck in a headspace where I kept romanticizing what could have been if I had let a past friendship become more. And I had a ballad in mind – which was originally a completely different song – just sitting on my computer. So after I organized my thoughts and feelings onto a few pages, I pulled up the ballad and put the words in. It wasn’t really an on-purpose thing and it didn’t start with melodies or a vibe I was looking to capture. I just needed to let out some feelings.” – Róisin Marie explained
‘Like That’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who reflects on a friendship that never blossomed into something more productive. Apparently, she’s hurting because she never got the chance to experience love with her friend, who is currently far from where she resides. Also, she’s been trying hard to fight the overwhelming feeling of remorse that troubles her every day. Later, she wonders what they could have had if only she would have let it happen.

“The song means new things to me as time passes, originally it made me really emotional. But now, I have new feelings and perspectives. So it’s brought me growth and helped me process. I think it’s cool that it exists because now it marks a specific thought process and perspective from a certain time in my life.” – Róisin Marie stated
Róisin Marie, a naturally gifted songwriter, never has an issue finding inspiration. From an early age, she recalls writing letters to her mother about her feelings because she didn’t know how to express them verbally. During adolescence, she felt an attraction to jazz. Also, the chord progressions intertwined within that genre.
“It’s where my voice feels the most comfortable and it’s what really pulls me in.” – she explained
While experimenting with songwriter later in life during high school, Marie began writing and performing her own songs while attending Binghamton University. While there, she collaborated with other producers and creatives. Soon after, she signed with SMG ENT and is currently working on her debut project with Anwar Sawyer.

‘Like That’ contains a relationship-based narrative, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that are sure to pull on your heartstring. Also, the emotional tune possesses lo-fi instrumentation flavored with a vibey indie-R&B aroma.
