PHIE (Sophie Wilson) is a singer-songwriter and keyboardist from Denver, Colorado. Not too long ago, she released a dreamy indie-pop tune, entitled, “Rage”.
PHIE – “Rage”
“People always try to change me. They don’t like that I’m crazy. But you tell me it’s fine ’cause I hit you like a lightning strike. When I met you on a summer night, you electrify me . Will you be there on my darkest days? Take me down ’til I feel the earth quaking. I don’t even wanna fight it. Baby, let’s rage.” – lyrics
‘Rage’ contains a relatable storyline, easy-going vocals, and vibey instrumentation flavored with washy guitar and moody keys.
PHIE – “Rage”
“When I first started writing this song, it was about how a storm can’t be controlled because it rages. A metaphor for how the industry can’t control creativity because it flows. (I had just walked out on a studio that wanted to sign me. They weren’t giving me any creative freedom and were sitting on all the songs I had written, refusing to release them). Upon writing the song, I realized I had much more energy and inspiration from the people in my life who love me for my crazy self and support what I’m doing.” – PHIE
PHIE’s musical influences include Lana Del Rey, Banks, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Ingrid Michaelson, A Fine Frenzy, Taylor Swift, and Alanis Morissette.
