OLI is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter based in London, England. Not too long ago, she released a lovely music video for her “Happy” single.

OLI – “Happy” music video

‘Happy’ is an ode to unhappy people, and an acknowledgement of the helplessness of those around them. Also, it’s one of the first times that OLI has written about a scenario close to her heart. Up to now, she had preferred to write observational or fictional scenarios in her songs.

‘Happy’ contains a relatable storyline, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the mellow tune possesses jazzy instrumentation flavored with indie-pop and neo-soul elements.

“I wrote ‘Happy’ about a family member who was really stressed and really overwhelmed. No matter what I said to them, it didn’t matter, they were in their own little world of anxiety. Also, all I could offer were words of encouragement but I knew I couldn’t do any more than that.” – explains OLI

OLI moved to London from New Jersey at the age of two. She grew up in a musical household, where she soaked up influences from Sade, Dion Warwick, Stereophonics, Supergrass, Razorlight, Pearl Jam, and Pink Floyd. With such a contrasting collection of music to grow up on, it’s easy to see why her own sound is so eccentric.

OLI is currently working with Benny D (Stormzy, Boy George, Kylie, Plan B, Robbie Williams, Paloma Faith) on an EP of new music set to release in 2020. The project contains a track featuring Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan. Also, OLI has featured as a backing vocalist for Boy George on many occasions including Lee Cooper’s 2019 advert.
