“Thought I was smarter than this. Thought by the second time around, I’d have this love thing down, or at least some common sense. It’s funny how four letters can dismiss all your rationale. But I just can’t break this pattern, I’m addicted with no way to quit. Holding on to what’ll shatter, thought I was smarter than this.” – lyrics

‘Love Fools’ tells an unhappy tale about a sad young woman who shares a problematic relationship with her significant other. Apparently, her partner always breaks her heart and then apologizes after she has cried a bucket full of tears. Later, she tells her companion, “It’s funny how love fools me into thinking that it’s gonna be okay. It’s really not that bad, it’s only just a phase that we are working through. But here’s the honest truth, love always fools me into loving fools like you.”

‘Love Fools’ contains a relationship-based narrative, and distinctive, sultry vocals, with backing from GRAMMY®-nominated and 2x ACM Award-winning blind piano virtuoso, Gordon Mote. The touching tune possesses lush instrumentation flavored with a moody contemporary pop vibration. Furthermore, “Love Fools” will resonate well with fans of Chelsea Cutler, Lauren Spencer Smith, and Julia Michaels.

“Damn, it’s like a curse. It pulls you in and makes you feel like you won’t ever hurt.”

“I am so excited for my first real release, ‘Love Fools,’ eek! The song was so fun to write, even though it is a sad song. Recording it was by far my favorite day in the studio. I love a challenge and that big chorus definitely was one, but it let me say what was needed. I’m hoping everyone can connect to this song as strongly as I do.” – maryjo explained

maryjo has quickly earned a fervent fan following for her singular and evocative vocal power, now boasting more than 1.3M TikTok followers and over 26.4M total likes. She was a fan-favorite contestant on Season 19 of the landmark singing competition series, American Idol.
