Liza – “Lansdowne” single
‘Lansdowne’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who shares a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, their relationship didn’t work as planned, and now she’s reflecting on what went wrong. She realized that the excitement of a new romance clouded her judgment. Later, she decides to move on after finding out who her partner really is.
‘Lansdowne’ was named after Lansdowne Avenue in Toronto, Canada. The heartfelt tune is a coda to the love story that began in Liza’s first single, ROLLA. The song took listeners through the giddy stage of a new, still-promising relationship until its painful ending in DONE IS DONE.
Toronto is a city overflowing with blended cultures, and it’s evident that these subtle influences spill over into Liza’s music. Her musical inspirations include Brandy, Sade, and Aster Aweke. And her music draws influence from traditional Ethiopian sounds, R&B, and neo-soul.
Not too long ago, Liza was featured on Daniel Caesar’s latest project, entitled, CASE STUDY 01. Recently, she took part in the ASCAP’s annual Come Up Showcase. Also, Soundcloud selected her as their “Artist to Watch” for the month of October 2020. Hit TV shows like “Twenties” (BET) and “Grown-ish”(ABC) have featured Liza’s music. Therefore, it came as no surprise when her music landed on Michelle Obama’s official Spotify playlist, “Higher Ground.”
Liza’s distinctive personality has allowed her to attract more than 485K followers on Snapchat. So far, she has taken the stage at NXNE, where she opened for Tinashe. Also, she has performed at Canadian Music Week, Manifesto Festival, and SXSW in Austin, Texas. Moreover, Liza has opened up for Kyle Dion, Raveena, and Lauryn Hill during their respective tours.
‘Lansdowne’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocalization, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Mahalia, Savannah Ré, and Amber Mark. The likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements. Furthermore, “Lansdowne” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Liza’s upcoming project, available in Spring 2021.
