“The set of this video had, by far, the most diverse team I’ve ever had the honor and privilege of working with. The video is particularly unique to the viewer because it was shot through the lenses of such a diverse creative team. And that’s what makes it so special to me. What I love about it is the aesthetic that we were able to build and capture. It’s this kind of candid approach all encapsulated by an eccentric, Wes Anderson- esque looking setting. The story revolves around a snapshot of time between my waking up to find my girlfriend has gone out for a bit. And me writing a song from start to finish about how she makes me feel. Through the foggy mist of enamor, time slows down and speeds up at the same time, which captures the feeling of the song and video perfectly.” – Kayla Diamond stated

“A conversation I had with my fiancée one day led me to write ‘always been you’. I said to her, ‘The only person that can ever hurt me would be you because you know all of my insecurities.’ Then, of course, I whipped out my notes and jotted down the idea. Later that night, strumming my guitar, the line ‘I only wanna be hurt by you’ came to me, a nursery rhyme-like melody that wouldn’t leave my head. When I fall for someone, I experience feelings of angst alongside that great love. Yet if someone had to break me, I would only want it to be that person.” — Kayla Diamond stated
“When I think of this song, I always picture two kids falling in love for the first time being like, ‘Is this okay? What is happening? Is this supposed to happen?’ It’s very innocent yet this complements the complexities of falling in love. Also, I used the imagery of me falling in love for the first time and wove it into the storyline. So, every time I hear it, I’m brought back to that time.” — Kayla Diamond stated
