GRAMN. – “Freak Out” music video featuring Jerome Thomas
“Jerome and I have been friends for a long time and our parents for even longer. I picked him for the video because I knew that he would understand the vision. He’s a man of many talents and a true artist. I don’t think there will ever be a time where Jerome isn’t a part of what I do. He is even featuring on some of our new music which is super exciting.” – GRAMN.
‘Freak Out’ follows on the heels of GRAMN.’s debut single, entitled, “Write It Down”, and a sold-out headline show in Dalston, east London. The audiovisual, filmed by videographer Christopher Cargill, was shot in GRAMN.’s mate’s lounge and Cargill’s bedroom.
“It’s the slightest glimpse into my brain, on any given day, it’s just a bit of what makes me, me. Every time we perform this track, I feel like it means something more, or maybe something different. I don’t know how exactly because my world is forever evolving, but I feel it. I feel like the track comes from the perspective of anyone of us, anyone who’s ever felt like they are on the edge. We just try not to step off.” – GRAMN.
GRAMN. (the musical project of Awks) is a name you should remember and an exciting new artist to watch. She is the bold voice of a young woman who tackles the trauma of her youth by creating honest music. Imagine a contemporary British Missy Elliot who spent time in detention singing with Jackie Wilson, left and made a dark trap ‘n’ R&B tune with Lapalux.
‘Freak Out’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the mental health-conscious tune possesses melodic instrumentation scented with a dark contemporary R&B aroma.
