Ben Wylen releases a music video for his debut single, entitled, “People Say”

Ben Wylen is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Not too long ago, he released a music video for his debut single, entitled, “People Say”, produced by Danton Supple (Coldplay, Morrissey, U2), and mixed by Steve Fitzmaurice (Sam Smith, The Kooks).

“All my friends, they rise for work each day. They take the morning train, never running late. Staring at their screens they fade away. They take a coffee break, just to stay awake. Don’t you know there’s more to life than working all the time? As the evenings fade, people say we’re wasting all our time searching for things we weren’t meant to find.” – lyrics

‘People Say’ tells a meaningful tale that encourages listeners to live life to the fullest amidst the hustle and bustle of the big city and its 9-to-5 grind. Also, the author’s father offers him a piece of timely advice to never repeat his mistakes in life.

‘People Say’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the sentimental tune possesses piano-driven instrumentation scented with an alternative-pop aroma.

“Most of my family and friends work jobs they don’t enjoy. They kill themselves day in and day out and they never give themselves a chance to find out who they really are and who they want to be. ‘People Say’ is about the struggle of self-discovery. We don’t have much time on this earth, so we ought to make the most of the time we do have. There is more to life then working all the time.” – Ben Wylen

A trip to London resulted in Ben Wylen having a chance meeting with Danton Supple. The pair eventually heading into London’s State Of The Ark Studios to record the songs together and made a good fit. Wylen providing the gut-wrenching, emotional guidance to the songs and Supple’s expert production work helped to realize the songs’ potential.

Members of Elbow (drummer Richard Jupp) and Starsailor (bassist James Steflox), string arranger Audrey Riley (The Cure, The Smiths, Smashing Pumpkins), and Grammy Award-winning mixing engineer Steve Fitzmaurice (Sam Smith, The Kooks, Lewis Capaldi) helped flesh out the album to its beautiful state.

‘People Say’ is the title track from Ben Wylen’s upcoming solo debut album, set to be released on November 6, 2020, via Restless Youth Entertainment.

‘People Say’ is a gorgeous, confessional 12-track record defiant in the face of what the whispers say, and rules others think people have to live by. Also, the project follows in the footsteps of the heartrending and inspirational songwriting of Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan, with nods to Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and Hozier.

In support of his new material, Ben Wylen will be making his debut live performance at SXSW this March. Shortly afterward, he will perform in New York at Rockwood Music Hall on April 2nd and in Los Angeles at The Hotel Cafe on April 7th.
