Aleighcia Scott and Rorystonelove released an appealing music video for their brand-new reggae/ska single, titled, “In My Shoes”

Aleighcia Scott (@aleighciasings) is a Welsh-Jamaican singer-songwriter from Cardiff, Wales. RoryStoneLove (@rorystonelove) is a sound system legend. Not too long ago, they released an appealing music video for their brand-new reggae/ska single, titled, “In My Shoes,” via Rorystonelove/Black Dub.

“I absolutely loved working on this song. I love ska and it’s important to give honor to the elements that were instrumental to creating reggae. Performing this one live is electric!” – Aleighcia Scott stated

‘In My Shoes,’ produced by RoryStoneLove, finds Aleighcia Scott going back to her musical roots. The song contains a bouncy, horn-driven instrumentation that recalls the ska-to-rocksteady transition of the early to mid-1960s. Furthermore, “In My Shoes” is particularly fitting as the third single from Aleighcia Scott’s and RoryStoneLove’s forthcoming album, entitled, “Windrush Baby.” The project pays tribute to the music that soundtracked Britain’s first Caribbean communities’ lives.

“The album ‘Windrush Baby’ reflects what my childhood was like growing up in south London. I was listening to music that sound systems would play at my mum’s parties and my sister’s. I have tried my best to recreate that period.” – Rorystonelove stated

‘Windrush Baby’ is a lovingly sculpted, deeply personal project that celebrates the JA-to-UK heritage of both Aleighcia and Rorystonelove, taking a musical journey from the blues dances and shubeens of Cardiff and London to the modern age. The album’s title and striking cover art reference the arrival of Caribbean culture in Britain, via the Empire Windrush ship, 75 years ago.

Fans of Aleighcia’s live shows will be pleased to know that she has been awarded a PRS Power Up Grant to promote her album on the road. Expect to see her performing her new material very soon.

Blessed with a powerful yet tender voice, and the ability to inhabit a song that recalls Jamaica’s foundation singers, Aleighcia Scott is one of soulful reggae music’s brightest stars. Born to a Welsh mother and a Jamaican father, she has absorbed the passion and prowess of both nations, becoming an internationally acclaimed artist who lights up studio booths and stages around the world.

Raised in Cardiff, Aleighcia remembers her first words as a child were duetting on a song with her father. She grew up with reggae, soul, and blues playing in her family home and has been singing on stage since she appeared at Cardiff’s Big Weekend, aged just seven years old.

Through raw talent and dedication, Aleighcia built her career online with her own YouTube channel and a live residency at her local reggae venue, the Irie Shack. Soon she was in hot demand as an opening act for visiting artists including Tarrus Riley, Julian Marley, Agent Sasco, and Soul II Soul.

Now an established headline performer, Aleighcia has toured the UK, tearing down the place at Glastonbury, Latitude,  and Boomtown festivals. She has also gone back to her Jamaican roots and performed at Kingston’s atmospheric Dub Club, at Big Yard Studio (for BBC 1Xtra), and on the legendary King Jammy’s sound system. In 2022 she made history when she appeared on the all-female sound system, Seduction City, at the return of London’s Notting Hill Carnival, Europe’s biggest street party.

A voice that grabs you by the heart, a unique story, and a soon-to-be classic album ready to drop, make Aleighcia Scott one of those rare artists whose every move feels fresh – yet is likely to be with us musically for a very long time.
