Várvara – “Scars” music video

“Love me at my high and my low. Can we get the life we’ve paid for? Can you love me and my flaws? Let’s heal our scars, they’ve left their marks. We lost the ancestry, now let’s bring back the family.” – lyrics

‘Scars’ highlights the bittersweet demand to be accepted and loved, and giving your best even if it isn’t good enough. The song, written during dark and cold lockdown nights, is the first part of a story about team spirit, sacrifice, tears, and sweat. The fire within yourself and within your community. The love and passion you give, the love and passion you get.

‘Scars’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocalization, and tuneful melodies. The likable tune possesses rhythmic instrumentation flavored with a contemporary afrobeat vibration. Furthermore, “Scars” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from Várvara in the near future.

“Hold me like no one else can ’cause no one else can.”

“‘Scars’ is a  song about being accepted and loved regardless of origin or gender. A topic that, as part of the ‘immigrant’ community, is very close to my heart.” – Várvara explained

Várvara’s love for music has shaped her since her childhood. Born in former Yugoslavia, as the first daughter of a composer, she has been lucky enough to perform songs by her mother on big stages at the age of three. Since then, Várvara has taken every opportunity to carry her voice out into the world. When she isn’t doing music, Várvara can be found in front of the camera in roles that challenge her personally and allow her to grow. In 2020, she could be seen on the big screen in the lead role of the award-winning film, APART.
