Shilpa – “Lonely” single
“You’re living in your own world talking to your new girls. Can do whatever you like, no time to wonder if you miss me. Thought of you makes me uneasy. I know you want me back ‘cause I’m familiar. You like the way I make you feel like you’re one in a million. You use me to fill your insecurities. I put that sh*t below me, you’re scared of being lonely.” – lyrics
‘Lonely’ tells an emotional tale of a young woman who has been doing well, making new friends and enjoying life. Apparently, she’s so busy that she doesn’t even have time to wonder about her former companion, who misses her and wants her back.
‘Lonely’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation scented with a warm contemporary R&B aroma.
“I wrote this song to come to terms with accepting that my relationship was essentially over, but only continuing out of the sake of convenience and familiarity; things we often crave when we are feeling lonely. However, on a larger level, this project is important to me because I want to highlight Asian-American under-representation in the music industry. Each person involved in this song from my co-writers to the producers, mixing engineer and photographer for the cover art is of south or east Asian descent—something that we don’t often come across in music. Being able to highlight the undeniable creativity that exists among our cultural generation is something I’m passionate about sharing with the world.” – Shilpa
