Shannon Lauren Callihan releases an appealing visualizer for her “Keep Me Waiting” single

Shannon Lauren Callihan is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter from a small town in Kentucky. Not too long ago, she released an appealing visualizer for her “Keep Me Waiting” single.

“You say you’re ready, wanna see where this goes. But when the night falls, you won’t even come close. Just want to taste you, must be mistaken. You always keep me, you keep me waiting. Why do you always turn me down when I wanna turn you on, baby? You play so hard to get, but that won’t get you very far. Why do you always turn me down when I wanna turn you on, oh baby. You play so hard to get, but don’t forget you’re the only one I want.” – lyrics

‘One Sided’ mines personal experiences from unrequited love and overcoming loneliness to the empowering playfulness of sexual gratification. The likable tune finds Shannon Lauren expanding her sonic palette as she gets the old runaround from a love interest.

Opening with a welcomed burst of expert synth work and ’80s-flavored guitar, Callihan is stuck leaving the light on for someone who’s playing hard to get. Her husky vocals provide the perfect contrast to the serotonin-boosting track, asking, “Why do you always turn me down when I wanna turn you on?”

“I’ll leave a light on, I’ll save a space in my bed hoping you’ll change your mind and come over instead.”

“This is my stab at writing an ‘80’s pop/rock tune. The title speaks for itself for this song. It’s about waiting for someone that keeps giving you the runaround. All you want to do is show this person you love them and want to spend time together, but they consistently play hard to get.” – Shannon Lauren explained

Shannon Lauren Callihan brings an alternative spin to neo-soul/R&B. The talented songstress has found a way to bring classic sounds to a new audience. Her musical inspiration includes Tom Misch and Anita Baker. Recently, Callihan signed with Marshall Live Agency and has shows planned for later this year with dates to be announced.

In 2020, she released “Love You Right,” which has garnered over two million streams across various platforms. The momentum has continued with editorial playlisting from Spotify on their “Nu-Funk” and “Ready for the Day” playlists, as well as partnerships with Fender, Guild Guitars, Orangewood Acoustic Guitars, and Ernie Ball.

“Just want to love you before it’s too late. Just want to hold you in my space. Every second, every hour, every minute you keep me waiting.”

‘Keep Me Waiting’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will soothingly find their way into listeners’ hearts. Also, the song possesses vibrant 80s-tinged instrumentation flavored with an alternative neo-soul vibration. Furthermore, “Keep Me Waiting” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Shannon Lauren Callihan’s upcoming debut EP, entitled, “One Sided,” set to be released on September 24, 2021. The five-track project confesses unreciprocated feelings with the desire for human connection.
