Saticöy is an alternative pop band based in Los Angeles, California. Not too long ago, they released a heartfelt alternative tune, entitled, “Nice to Know”.
Saticöy – “Nice to Know” single
“Till the day I die, I’ma do you right. But I got nights where I crave your advice. Mother always said you were so damn wise. She said you never spared a sacrifice for your child. You spent your nights on overtime for your wife. You gave because you could, not an axe to grind in sight. I wish I took the time to say, I’m sorry I tested your patience.” – lyrics
‘Nice to Know’ tells a personal tale of a young man’s triumph over tragedy.
The sentimental tune details lead singer Derek Long’s experience in losing his father at a young age. Also, it expresses his desire to return to a more innocent, happier time.
‘Nice to Know’ contains a relatable storyline, pleasing vocals, and lush instrumentation scented with a nostalgic indie-pop aroma.
Saticöy – “Nice to Know” single
“As many of you know, my father passed away from cancer in 2007. This was by far the most formative event in my life, and finding a way to express it in a song has been a long struggle. I wanted to accurately reflect my grieving experience as well as everything I feel like I missed out on. But above all, I wanted to shed light on how losing a parent or mentor can fortify ones determination to carry on a legacy. I wanted to stress the importance of celebrating life in the wake of tragedy. I think I’ve done this pretty well with our new single.” – Derek Long
Saticöy’s lyrics revolve around the frustration of a working man, fighting to maintain his creative ambitions. Their music echoes the importance of those hours outside the workplace.
The hours where the dreamer, the artist, or the entrepreneur inside us should be given the reigns. The hours where we can truly make something.
