Sam Williams releases a lyric video for his “Can’t Fool Your Own Blood” single

Sam Williams – “Can’t Fool Your Own Blood” lyric video

“You can lie to a liar, go ahead and flame the fire. Burn down everything you love, you can steal from a thief. I’ll act like I believe, but you can’t fool your own blood. And I know roads that I don’t walk down, I don’t walk down. Not no more, they take me places I don’t wanna go, don’t wanna go again. But now and then, I take a wrong turn, and then the lost highway claims me its own. I’ve got a voice in my head, tells me it’s fine no matter what it does. Got a broken compass in my pocket, it’s telling me where it is.” – lyrics

‘Can’t Fool Your Own Blood’ is a poignant track that highlights the struggles of overcoming the harmful cycles that we can inherit from our own families. The powerfully honest tune contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the song possesses guitar-driven instrumentation flavored with a fresh Country aroma. Furthermore, “Can’t Fool Your Own Blood” allows Williams’s vocals to shine through with a mixture of pain, strength, and hope.

“This song is about living with adversity. I sing about family drama that we all experience and grapple with. One thing that will never serve you well is lying to someone you love. That can only lead to turmoil. ‘Can’t Fool Your Own Blood’ is about being a pattern breaker and taking control of your own fate. Being at war with oneself is the greatest battle.” – Sam Williams explained

Sam Williams is the grandson of country pioneer Hank Williams, and the son of outlaw legend, Hank Jr. The artist-to-watch is the latest in a long line of American originals, but he’s not here for the sake of tradition. He sings with his own singular voice and writes in his own singular style. He fuses gut-wrenching honesty and plainspoken poetics with raw vulnerability and deep empathy. Suffering such a sudden loss this year has been profoundly devastating for Williams. But the journey of grief and self-discovery he has found himself on has led to a deeper understanding of his purpose in life. Also, his experiences have inspired him to honor his legacy with truth and integrity.
