Najuah releases a retro music video for their “Running” single

Najuah (Naj-juu-ah) is a Toronto-based female duo from Africa. Not too long ago, they released a retro music video for their “Running” single.

“The songs that live within us are the melodies we share with our ancestors. We are the essence of where our parents have been and those stories echo in our hearts. When you think of life and see where you are now…what a journey. Jules was born in Kenya, and me, I was born in Zimbabwe. How far we wandered to find the right beat and the rhythm that would carry our dreams and the belief that anything truly is possible.” – Hanifa

‘Running’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and vibey instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements.

Also, the likable tune combines NaJuah’s Afro-Canadian musical influences with today’s pop-urban energy.

“I remember after one show we did, a man came up to us. He said, ‘Do you know what your names mean in Swahili?’ ‘No’, we said. He replied, ‘It means patience’, smiled and wished us well. We thought yes indeed, all good things require patience and nothing worth having happens overnight. Also, we found out that our name means success in Arabic and constellation in Hebrew.” – Hanifa

Najuah consists of Hanifa and Jules and they were raised in Canada. Their stage name is the combination of both the first two letters of their middle names (na) and the first two letters of their first names (ju) & (ha) (reversed).

We recommend adding Najuah’s “Running” single to your personal playlist. Also, let us know how you feel about it in the comment section below.
