Monifa Goss – “Outside” single
“‘Outside’ was written during the Covid 19 pandemic. As an entertainer, I longed for the days I could be outside on the road in Jamaica, performing, partying and just living life. I literally couldn’t go outside and the times I would be able to were short-lived because of the curfew. ‘Outside’ was me dreaming of being outside and going back to that sense of normality, or on the other hand you could say I was being rebellious with my pen. It was literally a manifestation, visualizing the time I would be back outside enjoying life.” – Monifa Goss explained
“Outside” is an irresistible slice of dancehall-infused pop from Monifa Goss – and yet another milestone in her unstoppable rise. Seamlessly mixing R&B and dancehall with a pop twist, “Outside” shows off Monifa’s prowess as a vocalist and melody-maker. A mélange of sunny harmonies and sublime synths, the track is a joyful break for freedom, documenting Monifa’s thoughts of longing during lockdown.
“Outside” is the lead single from Monifa’s upcoming debut EP, “Eve,” an emphatic example of her natural talents. The project has a mix of styles that underpin Monifa’s approach, ranging from full dancehall bangers to more poppy tracks, all boasting her impressively strong R&B vocals.
Aiming to be a “triple threat,” Monifa Goss’ style comprises a fusion of pop, dancehall, reggae, soul, and trap, with inspiration coming from role models such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, Lady Saw, Ikaya, Buju Banton, and Spice.
A renowned young star in Jamaica, Monifa was the first runner-up for the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2016, receiving the Marcus Garvey Award alongside the Ardenne Choir, and winning Best Reggae Piece from JCDC in 2014. She is also a multi-time winner of the “What’s The Verdict” competition on Roots FM Radio Station.
Monifa was placed number one on the Empress Tashai’s Miami chart in 2017 with her single “Rise,” which also topped the charts in Zimbabwe that same year. Other notable releases include “Release My Love,” “Bunna Man,” “Bye B,” “Dead Beat,” “Hustle Hard,” and “Work mi cum” featuring Konshens, which made waves around the world, especially in the UK.

In honor of the late Miss Jean Oliver-Simmonds, Monifa decided to push hard for her dream to make her mother proud. In July 2023, Monifa entered the “Magnum Top Performa” competition and became the runner-up. She also performed on the popular music series “From the Block” with the influential YouTube channel 4 Shooters Only.
