“Only 17, we were high on what it means to be in love, to be in love. We did everything we could, make us feel more understood. But looking back, it couldn’t be forever. Every step I’m taking, every rule I’m breaking, this feeling in my chest when I can’t get you out of my head. These dreams we’re chasing and these nights we’re wasting, it might have been perfect but it couldn’t be forever.” – lyrics

‘Couldn’t Be Forever’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with RUNN, Luma, and Dua Lipa fans. The sentimental tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with indie and contemporary-pop elements. Furthermore, “Couldn’t Be Forever” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from Meggie York soon.

“Drive 40 in the fast lane, seems there’s no one to blame but the two of us.”

“‘Couldn’t Be Forever’ explores familiar concepts. The song focuses on how love is not a destination but the journey as you grow along the way.”

Meggie York broke on the music scene in 2018 with her solo single, Thank You, which amassed over 100,000 streams. Shortly afterward, she released her debut EP, Genesis, which showcased her emotional and irresistible indie-pop sound. Since then, she’s collaborated with electronic producers Dreweybear, Vaance, Rae Martin, and Michael Herrick to branch her voice out into EDM and other genres. Also, she has collaborated with well-known producers such as Culture Code, Duumu, Jim Yosef, Deep Chills, Inukshuk, and Disero. With many more songs scheduled for release, Meggie is looking to make 2021 a milestone year.
