LYCO is a Nigerian-born, multi-genre singer-songwriter hailing from Birmingham, United Kingdom. Not too long ago, he and Lucas (from the Lotto Boyzz) released an appealing music video for their “Ice N Rum” single via Royal Records.
LYCO x Lotto Boyzz – “Ice N Rum” music video
‘Ice N Rum’ is a flavorsome mix of UK rap and afrobeats elements. Lucas comes through with bars about a romance having trivial times and breaking a cycle of arguments and drama. LYCO provides silky, smooth afrobeats laced vocals which lead the track into a more upbeat direction for the relationship.
The visuals match the relaxed, melodic vibes of the track. The two artists are surrounded by beautiful women. Later, they’re chilling, vibing at a casino without a care in the world, and eating good food with their homeboys. Furthermore, “Ice N Rum” intertwines UK rap and afrobeats with the vocal harmonies of R&B to create a memorable and mesmerizing track.

LYCO has been able to concoct beautiful new dramatic flavors into the Afrobeat universe. He has written for the likes of Steff London, Ivorian Doll, and Lotto Boyzz. LYCO has also found massive success on the TikTok platform amassing over 100,000 followers through his comedy and documentary skits which has expanded his fanbase globally preparing the way for international success on all fronts.
Formerly known as Birmingham’s LYCO X WXYNE duo, LYCO has branched out in pursuit of a solo career to further express and deliver ground-breaking melodies that will transcend the afrobeats movement both locally and abroad.
“We taught ourselves how to make all types of vibes.”
At first glance, the rise of Lotto Boyzz appears meteoric. In September 2016, the vocal duo (Ash, 21, and Lucas, 22) released “Hitlist,” a summery fusion of sweet R&B harmonies, hot afrobeats rhythm, and bass-heavy dancehall swagger. “Hitlist” effortlessly reflected the current fusion sound of Britain, establishing Lotto Boyzz as hotly-tipped new artists in the UK’s exploding afro-bashment scene.
Before “Hitlist” had a chance to settle, Lotto Boyzz followed up with two more self-released singles, “Bad Gyal” and “No Don,” honing their sound to a slick mix of earworm vocal hooks and irresistible dance floor energy. Drawing on afrobeats, rap, bashment, and gospel, they created a sound that was both familiar, yet unmistakably their own creation, bursting onto the scene with three massive songs in the space of half a year, notching up millions of YouTube views along the way.
This led us to them embracing the embryonic afro-bashment sound being produced by the UK scene right now. They switched up from being Ash & Lucas, became Lotto Boyzz (LOTTO standing for Last Of The Trill Ones), and created a new name for their sound—Afrobean, a word that highlights how they mix afrobeats with their own Caribbean roots.
