LUCA releases a lovely alternative R&B tune, entitled, “Altar”

LUCA is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Harlem, New York. Not too long ago, he released a lovely alternative R&B tune, entitled, “Altar,” co-produced with key collaborator, Will Catucci.

“‘Altar’ is about falling out of love with a person who can’t accept that things need to end. It leaves you resenting the person you once loved the most.” – LUCA explained

‘Altar’ is a smooth yet stormy offering that builds into an emotional crescendo. The mellow, euphoria-inducing tune contains a relatable narrative and ear-soothing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Frank Ocean and Brent Faiyaz. Also, “Altar” possesses a raucous, distortion guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with an alternative R&B vibration. Furthermore, the song follows mildly on the heels of LUCA’s debut single, entitled, “Serotonin.”

LUCA takes the vibrancy of Harlem’s cultural center and embodies it in his music. A natural and a perfectionist, the 19-year-old has been involved in music his entire life, learning to play piano at the age of three, singing in choirs by 11, and eventually picking up the guitar in high school. While taking online classes during the pandemic, he fell in love with production and put in the necessary work to perfect his craft.

His songs possess constant movement—dynamic energy that lifts, surprises, and above all, touches you. You can hear the R&B and other old-school influences in his self-taught production techniques that are a delightfully eclectic blend of Motown, neo-soul, house, and light techno with subtle but deliberate notes of Afro-funk. Most importantly, the usage of his live instrumentation, both guitar, and bass, is at the core of his uniqueness.
