‘Secondhand Love’ tells a bittersweet tale of a young woman who shares a problematic relationship with a guy who is in love with another woman.
Apparently, he’s no good for her, but she’s too weak or addicted to the taste of his lips to find someone new. Also, she regrets being in this situation but isn’t strong enough to give it up.
Later, she admits that he pulled her in real nice and slow like the cigarette he’s about to throw away.

“When I first wrote this song, all I had was the title ‘Secondhand Love’. I instantly knew the direction I wanted to go with it. I was thinking back on a previous relationship/fling and how I felt like I was just second-best to someone, and as much as it hurt I didn’t really care. Also, I was addicted to this person, in a sense. They were bad for me but I just couldn’t get enough of them. I was just their second-hand lover but I was the one addicted to them.” – Lauren Ashley Wilson
