KYŁO is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Ontario. Not too long ago, she released an emotional pop tune, entitled, “Tell You”.
KYŁO – “Tell You” single
“‘Tell You’ is a mysterious, liberating, and euphoric love song. It is about knowing you have to leave someone you’ve been with for a long time. Also, being scared of being alone for the first time in a while—even though you know that it is the right thing to do.” – KYŁO
‘Tell You’ tells a bittersweet tale of a young woman who feels she will be lonely if her relationship with her significant other doesn’t work out.
Apparently, she doesn’t want her partner to leave because she worries that she won’t make it on her own.
“I went through a lot in the past year or so while I was writing this EP. I had just left a long term relationship and moved into my own apartment—the first time I ever lived alone without roommates or a significant other, and a certain kind of loneliness comes with that. Also, I lost a few people in my life, a friend, my godmother, my grandmother. And I started to go into a dark hole thinking about life and death itself, which led me to write some of the darker tracks and things on the EP. Overall, exploring these feelings and using this creative outlet to get it all out was really therapeutic and I hope anyone else going through similar things may be able to relate.” – KYŁO
KYŁO has been categorized alongside some of her musical influences (e.g., Banks, Abra). But when it comes down to it, she has her own unique sound.
So far, she has performed in various venues in Toronto including the Danforth Music Hall for NXNE, the Drake, and The Baby G.
“‘Exit’ explores the dynamics of endings. Whether it be the ending of a relationship, a certain path in life, or even death itself. It speaks to the changes one goes through when things end and you are forced to go through certain changes, emotions, and everything that goes along with that. Change, starting anew from a relationship/way of life and being reborn into something new. Also, exiting one stage and moving on to another. All of the stages/feels/processes that go with that. The in-betweens. Feeling stuck (should I stay or go), heartbreak, anger, hatred. Getting out of all of it (exiting) and being able to look back with a sense of being content. Everything ends up being okay in the end. Also, change in other ways not related to love, grief, afterlife, and being reborn. Life changes and experiences in general.” – KYŁO
‘Tell You’ follows in the heels of KYŁO’s previously released single, entitled, “Solace”. Both tunes are featured on her “Exit” EP.
