“Roses that grew straight out of the concrete. F**k the drugs, I gave you love. You felt my heartbeat. Wasting time, I realized, maybe we should be free. I must’ve distracted you, holding you back from a better view. Time is essential. Know we try, these feelings never lie. No longer wanna be an escape, jumping highs to be your second place. Guess you can say that I did it. I’ll admit it in this teenage love story.” – lyrics

‘Mixed Signals’ tells an emotional tale of a young guy who experiences a severe heartbreak caused by his significant other.

Apparently, this person tells him that they love him but their actions tell a completely different story.

Later, the guy realizes that the best thing for him to do is move on and find someone new.

“This song is the turning point to my EP Teenage Love Story. I wrote it while I was dealing with a love triangle and had had enough of being someone’s second place. ‘We all love somebody that we can’t have. Feenin’ for your body when it’s not good for me.’ I meant this person was toxic for me and I could never have them how I wanted to because you’re with another person. ‘Mixed Signals’ is meant to be the end all be all where I walk away from the situation and grow as an individual with a broken heart.” – Kyle Mahlik

‘Mixed Signals’ contains a relatable storyline, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses moody instrumentation scented with an emo-R&B aroma.

Also, the song is featured on Kyle Mahlik’s EP, entitled, “Teenage Love Story”.
