“Lazy Sunday” is a song that beautifully captures the essence of a Sunday morning, where time seems to slow down and the world feels at peace. It’s that moment of pure bliss and contentment before the reality of another week sets in, bringing with it the anxieties and responsibilities that come with a new workweek. “Lazy Sunday” is a gentle reminder to indulge in simple pleasures like staying indoors and lying in bed next to your significant other.

Kristin Carter explained, “This song is about the serene, simple pleasures of a Sunday morning and slipping away into indulgence and calm before the reality of another week sets in. Thematically, I think it describes a very relatable human experience of basking in bliss before the ‘Sunday scaries’ arrive.”

“Lazy Sunday” features a minimalist sound that perfectly complements the theme of the song. The simplicity of the arrangement allows the listener to fully immerse themselves in the lyrics and the emotions they evoke. It’s a song that encourages us to slow down, appreciate the small joys in life, and find moments of calm amidst the chaos. Furthermore, “Lazy Sunday” is featured on Kristin Carter’s debut album, “Full Bloom.”

A contemplative and deeply personal 12-track project, “Full Bloom” touches on Kristin Carter’s formative moments during her twenties. The album is presented within a living musical garden with each song as a flower inspired by moments that together form a human experience. Carter and Ramsay co-produced the album, while Carter was also a writer on each track, with other notable co-writers like Ramsay, Steve Mitchell, Emma-Lee, and Luke Collins.

Besides the leisurely indulgences of “Lazy Sunday,” the rich musical garden of “Full Bloom” offers poignant reflections on a number of other topics: the elation of physical chemistry (“Euphoria”), the spiral of self-doubt (“Break”), the conversations we struggle to have (“The Waltz”), the complex and confusing realities for women (“Kintsugi”), joyful female empowerment (“Hey Woman!”), quiet moments of love (“Love You Forever”), the quest for vitality (“Alive”), unrequited love (“I’m the One”), personal resilience (“I’m Still Here”), loss and grief (“Your Side of the Blue”), and the gratitude of relationships and human connection (“Good People Good Wine”).

At its very essence, the album is a bold, symbolic mirror of Carter’s existence that serves as a testament to her genuine fascination with the world around her. It is her garden – in full bloom.
