‘GIANTS’ is a decolonizing creative process aimed at using music to capture the myriad experiences of people of color. Also, the album builds on the tradition of resistance and resilience that people of color around the world have shown in the fight to combat the ill effects of colonization.
‘GIANTS’ consists of various musical genres including highlife music from Ghana, hip-hop, soul, R&B, and afro-soul. Also, it features Mutombo Da Poet, Canadian Winter, K!mmortal, and poets from the Hamilton Youth Slam and Syrian-born rapper Mother Tareka.
Kojo “Easy” Damptey’s musical influences include Teddy Pendergrass, Nina Simone, Randy Crawford, Curtis Mayfield, and Bob Marley to name a few. He currently resides in Canada, where he writes, composes, and produces songs with various artists in Canada and around the world. Also, his debut record, “Daylight Robbery” won 2015 Hamilton Music Award for Pop Record of the Year.
