KillaBee – “When the Grass was Greener” lyric video

“We can find love in the unexpected. We knew that life was more than what we see. Maybe in another life, we were friends. And that’s why it feels right when you hold my hand. And that’s why it feels right when we stare at each other. One look into your eyes takes me far away from here. I may never lie when I say you are mine. In love, I never had faith, and now I pray for yesterday.” – lyrics

‘When the Grass was Greener’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who shares a fading relationship with her partner. When they stare at each other, thoughts of saying goodbye enter their minds. Therefore, she describes their dwindling love as “A love that fears the light.” Later, she admits, “foolishly was I to think you were mine.” She can’t believe they have allowed their once budding relationship to fall.

“Don’t look me in the eyes. I can’t bear to see you near.”

“‘When the Grass was Greener’ is the final song of my ‘When the Grass was Greener’ EP. This song is a reflective piece meant to express the rise and fall of a relationship. Towards the end of the song, the tone darkens. This is meant to show my awakening as I return to the sad reality of a love lost. The mood slight shifts from happily reflective to almost one of grief as I mourned the relationship. I hope I can take you to that place.” – KillaBee explained

‘When the Grass was Greener’ contains a heartbreaking narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. The gloomy tune possesses piano-laden instrumentation flavored with Adult Contemporary, crossover classical, and emotional pop elements. Furthermore, “When the Grass was Greener” is the title track of KillaBee’s latest four-track EP.

“Forever, or not at all. Oh, I long to hear your call.”
