“I wanted to create something that would have looked and felt like my spring/summer of 2020 if it wasn’t for Covid-19. Jorge (producer) and I are always reminiscing about our hometowns and just miss chilling with our friends in the sun. So it had to be nostalgic.” – JVSMINE stated

JVSMINE created the DIY audiovisual on her iPhone, using old clips, memories, and some footage shot by her sister in their garden during the lockdown. Footage includes memories in London, Singapore, and where JVSMINE and Jorge Arango Kure grew up—Fiji and Colombia.

‘Take Me Over’ contains an appealing narrative, pleasing vocals, and rich harmonies. Also, the nostalgic summer tune possesses mild tropical instrumentation flavored with a warm contemporary R&B aroma. Furthermore, “Take Me Over” hints at depression and the weight and heaviness that comes along with it. Also, the song is about wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

“I wanna feel happy again.”

“It’s all about moving. I want to move people physically as well as emotionally. I hope this encourages listeners that we can move through our dark moments. Nothing lasts forever.” –  JVSMINE stated

JVSMINE is a laid back island girl who shares her story within her music. She emerged on the scene in 2019 when she released her debut single, entitled, “Let Go”, a song about healing and accepting experiences we can’t control. Shortly afterward, she released “Lonely”, about a relationship on the turn. “Take Me Over” is her third single and serves as another statement of intent from an artist with a promising future.

“Heard my soul talking, heard it say, ‘Dealing with these ghosts, I’m wasting away.’ Sunset dreaming, think of leaving. One more drink in but it don’t help. I want to feel happy again. Feel it take over. Take me over, it’s just taking over.” – lyrics
