‘Lonely on Christmas’ tells a captivating tale about an independent young woman who doesn’t mind spending Christmas by herself. Apparently, someone who she is still deeply in love with wants to spend some quality time with her. However, she understands this person’s behavior patterns and knows this individual will be gone in the wind as soon as the holiday season is over. Therefore, she decides to spend Christmas by herself because she needs some alone time to figure things out.

“I’ve been planning to write a Christmas song for a long time. But I didn’t want it to be just a Christmas song. I wanted it to be a song that could stand out on its own all year round. I tend to like to write songs coming from an empowering prescriptive a lot. I’ve heard one too many of the same Christmas songs. So I decided to write ‘Lonely on Christmas.’ I wrote it on Zoom with my friend Sophie Simmons and that was it. The song is about not needing anyone besides yourself. There’s sometimes that person you go home to during the holidays and is evidently gone by January. I realized I didn’t need that person this year. I could do all the things they did for me for myself. Even though it mentions Christmas, and yes, there are a few sleigh bells. This song is universal all year round with the theme of not needing someone else to fill your lonely.” – JUJ explained
