Joan Mercury – “Purpose”

“Starting over in general is not always the easiest. But the beauty is that you can start over at any point in life. I use affirmations a lot. So in a way this was my affirmation song to remind myself that anything is possible. I just try to be true to myself and not worry about what everyone else thinks.” – Joan Mercury

‘Purpose’ contains an inspirational storyline, sweet soul vocals, and spirited instrumentation perfumed with an indie-pop scent. Also, the song tells a dreamy tale of a woman who receives encouragement while on the verge of recovering from a relationship that failed to materialize after a set period of time.

“‘Purpose’ chronicles the stages of healing and finding yourself again after a toxic relationship. This track represents the part of the album where the focus shifts towards the self. It showcases so much of who I am, because I can be my biggest cheerleader and at times my own worst enemy.” – Joan Mercury

Joan Mercury was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland. Her musical influences include Michael & Janet Jackson, Queen, Sade, Prince, Amy Winehouse, George Michael, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Alessia Cara, Rihanna, The Killers, and Hasley.
