Jelani Aryeh explained, “Musically, ‘I’m in Love’ reminds me of a Katy Perry song, but with a Black dude singing. I was thinking of how to fuse the mid-00s pop with the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah sound. Lyrically, I have this weird obsessiveness around relationships. I fall in love with the idea of a person more than the actual person in front of me. It clouds the relationship and how I interact.”
