Are You Dreaming of Never-Ending Love? If so, Listen to Jelani Aryeh’s “I’m in Love” Single

Jelani Aryeh (@jelaniaryeh) is an Afro-Filipino singer-songwriter. Not too long ago, he released a cool music video for his “I’m in Love” single.

“Funny, ain’t it, how you got me running to ya. Oh, like there’s nothing to it. Oh, like there’s nothing you could ever do wrong. ‘Cause it’s tunnel vision, shining a spotlight on ya. Can we pretend it’s perfect? Can we pretend it’s all the things that I want.” – lyrics

“I’m in Love” tells an endearing tale about a guy who is head-over-heels in love with his significant other. He’s willing to fulfill whatever wish his companion has. To further illustrate their relationship, Jelani Aryeh sings, “It’s not the first time this is leaving your lips but lie to me and say you believe it exists.”

“I’m in Love” contains a love-based narrative that will surely resonate well with anyone who doesn’t want to wake up from their dream of being in love with their partner. “I’m in Love” allows listeners to do just that—keep on dreaming. The fantasy-orientated tune contains thudding drums and electric guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with a contemporary indie-rock vibration.

“Don’t wake me from this dreaming.”

“Feel like screaming, Darling, my chest is burning. But can’t find the words to say it. Can’t find a way to make much sense out of this cause it’s smoke and mirrors. Just let me hold onto this dream that I have.” – lyrics

Jelani Aryeh explained, “Musically, ‘I’m in Love’ reminds me of a Katy Perry song, but with a Black dude singing. I was thinking of how to fuse the mid-00s pop with the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah sound. Lyrically, I have this weird obsessiveness around relationships. I fall in love with the idea of a person more than the actual person in front of me. It clouds the relationship and how I interact.”
